Noah, 32, has not played since February 4 and underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee on February 27 to remove a loose body.

The NBA plans to announce the suspension on Saturday, league sources said.

The investigation that the National Basketball Players Association launched found that there was no malice from Noah. His suspension would carry over to the first 10 games of next season.

"Joakim was completely forthcoming and cooperative throughout the investigation and we believe that this isolated occurrence was a regrettable mistake", the union statement said. "Joakim has offered his deepest apologies for this infraction".

Noah, 32, is averaging 5 points and 8.7 rebounds in his first season in NY after signing a four-year, $72 million deal. He's not with the Knicks in San Antonio, where they will face the Spurs tonight. The Knicks, now at 27-45, have ten more games this season and are all but eliminated from postseason contention, so Noah would likely serve his suspension to open the 2017-18 season.

The 32-year old Noah signed a huge contract with the Knicks this offseason, agreeing to a four-year, $72 million deal. That should be the first game of the suspension that Noah serves.
