But after no mistakes in the first 45 minutes from Burnley's defence, Ben Mee slipped as he blocked Wijnaldum's first attempt from Divock Origi's cross which allowed the Kop midfielder to slot home from six yards.

"But we just tried to fight and do everything to win the game".

It was only when they found themselves chasing the game that they reduced themselves to the tactics which saw lesser sides emerge victorious from Anfield. He kind of looks at you as if to say "well you have watched the game anyway, so I am not going to come out with any rubbish". Yes because we think we should qualify for it.

"We have to cover specific spaces and make the right decisions". The ball was always in the air, fighting for second balls, they were obviously better around second balls. It feels kind of odd a little bit.

"We knew it after the Arsenal game these questions would be asked".

"Burnley is special. With them it is clear - they defend, counter-attack, long balls in behind, set-pieces". They were risky enough, all in the six-yard box and Si [Mignolet] did an outstanding job for us.

"We had some moments, it was not only luck that we scored before half-time and it was a wonderful goal from Emre Can".

"We had 11 efforts at goal, and they had 10, its unusual for a side to come here and do that". Sean Dyche's team didn't win a game in all competitions in February, including a loss against Lincoln City in the FA Cup.

Wijnaldum, speaking to the Sky Sports cameras after the final whistle, admitted that it was "difficult in the beginning" for his side and "especially because they [Burnley] scored a goal in the first couple of minutes". Captain Jordan Henderson and England colleague Daniel Sturridge remain sidelined.

He added: "Emre is a boy with an outstanding attitude".

The Germany international's performances have been wildly inconsistent during the current campaign, vindicating the reluctance to double his current salary. He's had a few problems with his calf in the last few months, which we couldn't sort quickly enough - not because of our medical department but because sometimes he had it, sometimes not. Sometimes he had it, sometimes not.

"I really like to speak positive about a player".

To be champions or win trophies you need some luck and consistency and so far Klopp is demonstrating those are not traits he possesses. In his position there were a lot of high balls and you can imagine how important it is to have this player around. We have to react and he reacted well.
