Coveted Pro Bowl OG TJ Lang signs three-year deal with Lions

Lang signed a three-year deal with the Detroit Lions on Sunday now becomes one of the biggest questions the Packers must answer.

Lang was a favorite of quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who voiced his desire for the team to re-sign the lineman who was voted to his first Pro Bowl past year.

For now, the Seahawks are just a Joeckel ahead of where they were on the offensive line at the end of last season, with a draft low on top blockers coming up next month. And I didn't want to make any rash decisions.

For all we obsess over marginally improving all the areas the Lions were weak in 2016, at the beginning of March I wrote the Lions' biggest need is simply to get and keep Matthew Stafford healthy.

Nathan Jahnke of Pro Football Focus noted Lang allowed 27 combined sacks from 2012-14 and then gave up just two in 2015.

Lang owned Scott Mitchell and Charlie Batch jerseys growing up, and thinks it's pretty cool that now his son will be able to wear a T.J. Lang Lions jersey. He played 13 games last season, missing three with a foot injury. Detroit also signed tackle Rick Wagner in recent days and could have an upgraded offensive line next season even after the departures of Riley Reiff and Larry Warford.

"Went back to Green Bay, they were still in the mix", Lang said during an interview with WXYZ's "Sports Cave".

Lang underwent hip surgery this offseason to finally take care of a lingering issue he's dealt with the last few seasons, but says he'll be back on the field and ready to go by the start of training camp.
