According to Billboard, the new song took the top spot of the Billboard + Twitter Trending 140 chart.

Produced by Benny Blanco and Steve Mac, the song is about a love that's gone cold, as Levine croons that he feels he doesn't know his lover anymore.

Meanwhile, Future raps about love lost.

The group is now diverting away from the pop-rock genre that catapulted them to their fame as reported by Forbes. Teaming up with Future this time around, "Cold" is the second song from the follow-up to 2014's smash V album.

During an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday, the Maroon 5 frontman gushed over his newborn daughter, Dusty Rose, with his wife, Victoria's Secret Angel, Behati Prinsloo. When the chorus hits, a percussion-heavy beat that seems to fit more with a dancehall vibe than anything else (though it's hard to place with other genres) comes in and catches the listener. "Cold" follows up Maroon 5's Kendrick Lamar collaboration in "Don't Wanna Know." . He also said that the record would be out "soon-ish" and would be hip hop influenced. With the momentum Maroon 5 has created, 2017 will be a huge bang for them.
