Cavs' Kevin Love To Miss Six Weeks After Undergoing Left Knee Surgery

Kev is out for an extended period of time. I'll be suiting up.

Television and Radio personality Will Burge reports after his MRI on Tuesday, Love received minor knee surgery, which will sideline him for the next six weeks.

Love, who is having his best season with Cleveland, had a "loose body" removed from his knee by orthopedic surgeon David Altchek in NY, the Cavs said.

With his shooting percentages up from the field, three-point range and free-throw line over the previous two years with the Cavaliers, Love raised his offensive productivity by almost four points per game and helped the team to a two-game lead in the Eastern Conference. "We just hope for a healthy and speedy recovery for our All-Star".

Love, who has missed time this season with back issues, is having his best season in his third year with the Cavaliers, averaging 20 points and 11.1 rebounds and is shooting 38.4% on three-pointers.

According to SportsRadio850, the Washington Wizards are 16-3 over their past 19 games, and the play of both John Wall and Bradley Beal is a big reason why.

"We haven't talked about it", James said.

As for Cleveland, they're going to struggle. He doesn't know if any teammates have reached out. Altchek also repaired Love's separated shoulder a couple of years ago. "He was an All-Star and obviously he had to fit himself into a different role".

Unlike the others, though, Love should be able to return during the regular season - sometime around March 28.

However, the Cavs have yet to be at full strength as guard J.R. Smith continues to recover following thumb surgery. He will undergo further treatment and evaluation, the team said.

There's no single player who can step in and fill every role that Love plays. "We know we can win on the road, but health is more important to me right now, especially with guys being out".

With Love out of the lineup, expect to see forward Channing Frye on the court a bit more.

After that, it will likely become a committee approach. James Jones and Derrick Williams could be relied upon to play in Love's place as well.
