To find out more about the Oculus Rift, the controller, games and pretty much any other questions you may have, tune into Luckey's AMA this Wednesday right here! Even an infusion of billions of dollars from Facebook didn't speed up development. Rift will also be available in limited locations at select retailers starting in April, according to the blog post.

Well, that changes now.

The Oculus Rift's first wave of shipments will start March 28, Oculus VR revealed today.

On the heels of the Oculus Rift pre-orders, CCP Games announced that players will be able to get into the alpha phase from January 18.

Once the countdown is up though, and the Oculus Rift pre-order time at 8am Pacific Time is live, you'll know once and for all. The free headset will come bundled with a copy of Lucky's Tale, and EVE Valkyrie, so you'll have some software to check out your shiny new toy right off the bat. A number of those who were closely following and anticipating the Rift's release have expressed disappointment at the price. You can also run a diagnostic on the company's website to see if your computer is compatible before pre-ordering it. That's in addition to costs associated with a PC that can keep pace with the Oculus Rift's demands on hardware. If you want to try and save some money and get your hands on a DK2-good luck because those sold out in October 2015.

Most analysts expect that Oculus sales will be in the low hundred-thousands while just a few said sales may top 1 million, Bloomberg reported.
